BACKGROUND

About NCfD

The Nigeria Clusters for Development (NCfD) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to governance innovation, policy entrepreneurship, and cluster-based development across Nigeria.

Regional competitiveness and national prosperity are not competing objectives. When federal institutions allow regions sufficient policy autonomy to innovate and compete, they become mutually reinforcing.

At NCfD, we leverage a collaborative, multi-stakeholder approach that brings together industry, academia, government, and civil society to drive regional competitiveness and foster social cohesion for shared prosperity. Through rigorous research, policy dialogue, and practical collaboration, we aim to shape both policy and practice in ways that unlock Nigeria’s full economic potential.

To harness the power of the innovation economy, Nigeria needs a governance framework that can explain and address the differential economic performance of its 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. By identifying and promoting the key institutional levers of regional competitiveness, NCfD seeks to support an economic governance model that is adaptive, inclusive, and innovation-driven.

Achieving this goal requires a deep, sector-wide exploration of Nigeria’s policy landscape to identify incremental, scalable, and sustainable policy innovation opportunities — especially across its 774 local government areas.

NCfD is focused on catalyzing economic transformation and policy leadership from the bottom up through its three core themes: governance innovation, policy entrepreneurship, and cluster-based development.

NCfD is a non-profit, non-partisan organization registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in Nigeria.
